The Curvv SUV, set to be Tata Motors' inaugural new product launch this year, boasts an eye-catching front design and a distinctive coupe-like roofline, setting it apart from the more conventional SUVs in its segment like the Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, and the Hyryder. Recently leaked patent images provided a sneak peek into the final design of the Curvv, and its appearance at the event indicates that the SUV's styling remains largely unchanged from its debut at the Auto Expo last year, with only a few minor adjustments.

With the Curvv, the LED light bar has been extended to a greater extent, mirroring the design seen on the Nexon facelift. The grille has undergone a transformation, now featuring a combination of piano black and body color finish instead of being solely body colored. The front bumper has been updated with new headlamp and foglamp housings, resembling those found on the Harrier and Safari facelifts. Notably, there is an additional air vent positioned between the grille and the license plate housing, which appears to be exclusive to the Curvv petrol and diesel models. Additionally, the front bumper now boasts a significantly larger air intake and a prominent faux skid plate.

In terms of design, the Curvv showcases wing mirrors mounted on the doors and flush door handles, a unique feature for Tata vehicles. At the rear, the LED light bar has been given a dark tint and the tail-lamps now exhibit production ready elements. The vertically positioned air inlets on the rear bumper not only serve their purpose but also incorporate additional reflectors. These are the key changes observed in the new images of the Curvv. Furthermore, the images confirm that the Curvv will boast a complete LED light setup, particularly on the top models. It will also be equipped with a 360-degree camera and 18-inch alloy wheels.

With dimensions of 4,308mm in length, 1,810mm in width, and 1,630mm in height, the Curvv perfectly fits into the midsize SUV segment. Its 2,560mm wheelbase further enhances its positioning. Additionally, it offers a spacious 422-litre boot, providing ample storage capacity.

Insiders have revealed that the Curvv will offer various powertrain options. The initial release of the Curvv EV will give it a head start over competitors such as the upcoming Creta EV, which boasts similar dimensions and price range. Furthermore, the Curvv EV is poised to challenge the electric SUVs from Maruti and Toyota, both of which are scheduled to hit the market sometime next year.

Apart from the Curvv EV, Tata is set to introduce an SUV in the market, providing customers with the choice of petrol and diesel engines. Interestingly, the showcased model at the event is a diesel-powered Curvv, as we had previously reported that the Curvv will utilize the Nexon's 1.5-litre diesel engine. This diesel variant will be launched after the Curvv EV. Following that, the Curvv will also offer a petrol engine option, featuring a 125hp, 225Nm, 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine. Additionally, a CNG option will be available. Customers can expect various gearbox options, including manual, AMT, and even a DCT automatic, depending on the chosen powertrain.

Tata Motors is scheduled to begin production of the Curvv EV series in April of this year at their Ranjangaon plant near Pune. The company has set an annual sales goal of approximately 48,000 units for the Curvv SUV, with an estimated 12,000 units coming from the Curvv EV.
